Dear MDU Families,

Today the Onalaska and Holmen School Districts announced that due to a sharp decline in cases, they will no longer require the wearing of masks in their facilities as of Monday, February 14. We have noted the same sharp decline in cases in our programs and will be following suit. The updated policy for MDU will be effective Monday, February 21 as our studio is closed for Intersessional Break next week.

Every day that we can get where children can fully express themselves in the classroom and teachers can have full communication, including facial cues, we will celebrate! And, if there are days ahead where cases rise to a point where we have to revisit our mask policy, we will do so.

In meantime, all other risk-mitigating factors remain in place and parents are asked to keep their children home if they do not feel well and to keep up with other healthy habits such as good hand hygiene, hydration, nutrition, and sleep. Anyone who would still like to wear a mask to class for comfort is welcome to do so and plenty of masks will still be available at the front desk.

I want to thank our faculty, families, and students for their support over the past two years. Working together, we have kept our classrooms open continuously since June of 2020 and we are working on our return to the stage for Spring Recital! Now that’s some awesome teamwork!

Thank you for your support! With appreciation,
Miss Misty

IMPORTANT COVID-19 UPDATE for Monday, March 16 - Studio Closing today

Dear MDU Families,

We are living in a historic moment. As such, please be assured that we are making the best decisions we can on a daily (and sometimes hourly) basis for our students and our employees.

To that end, based on current information and recommendations available as of March 16, 2020, we have made the following updates to our COVID-19 response:

CLASS UPDATES

PERFORMANCES & RECITALS In closing, while there are many uncertainties in this time, here are a couple of things I DO know for certain from 28 years of teaching <3.

The kids are watching how the adults they trust are handling this situation. <3

They are taking cues from us as to how to process the entire situation. History is playing out before their eyes. Little ones are going to need extra assurance, time and familiar things. It's also worth noting that kids who are of the age of having a cell phone are not only hearing updates from schools, national networks, and home but they are also getting a 24/7 info-feed from on social platforms like Snapshot and TikTok. Teens may act like they are okay, but check in with them anyway...You might not think they are listening, but they are.<3

Lastly, as many of you know our studio not only serves our students here in the Coulee Region, but also provides resources and support for 300 studios the world through our More Than Just Great Dancing!® Affiliated Studios program. Those studios serve 120,000 kids each week - ALL of whom are going through the same thing we are right now. Just like your kids are looking to you right now, our affiliated studios are looking to us. I just wanted to thank you AGAIN for being an amazing studio family - your support helps not just our Coulee Region kids, but kids across the world as well.

With much appreciation,

Misty Lown
